Spoons Cafe sits quietly on North Street, serving up classic British cafe fare with a straightforward, no-fuss approach that feels genuine rather than trend-driven. This is a spot where early mornings and weekend brunches naturally draw in families, local workers, and students looking for a hearty, familiar meal before getting on with their day.

The double-glazed windows keep a cozy warmth inside, counterbalancing the busy street atmosphere just outside. The staff here bring a consistently friendly, welcoming presence that makes Spoons feel like a neighborhood kitchen rather than a commercial cafe. It’s the kind of place where the same faces pop up regularly, either for a full English breakfast loaded with all the traditional trimmings or a stacked cheese and ham toastie that hits the spot without fuss.

Spoons leans heavily into comfort food done properly, with ample portion sizes that locals appreciate—no skimping on the essentials. Whether you’re after a classic gammon with eggs and chips or dipping into their burger selections, the cooking strikes that balance between homely and reliably well-prepared. Visitors can expect fair prices that align with Brighton’s more casual dining spots, making it a practical choice for a filling meal without the city center premium.

If you’re swinging by during the morning rush or early lunch, you’ll likely encounter a buzzing but relaxed scene, filled with chatter from nearby students and workers grabbing a quick bite or catching up over a coffee. Spoons is especially tuned to the rhythm of daily local life, serving breakfast and lunch with a steady pace that suits both takeaway customers and those settling in for a sit-down meal.

The menu reflects a broad range of traditional British cafe options—from egg mayo and tuna mayo sandwiches to the kind of roast dinners that still draw crowds typically reserved for weekends. The addition of touches like real apple juice and specials like a baked potato with hummus shows a thoughtful nod to variety, accommodating different tastes without straying from the comfort zone.

All told, Spoons Cafe offers a dependable, grounded experience for those looking for a straightforward yet satisfying meal in a setting that emphasizes warmth and familiarity over flash. It’s a useful go-to on busy North Street for anyone wanting a substantial, well-cooked breakfast or lunch served by people who clearly know and appreciate their regulars.

What a brilliant find. I was right Hank and Spoons came up in a search. A great cafe and the English Breakfast was perfect. The food cooked well and a good spread. No short measures here. Well done Perry. I’ll be back.

Absolutely lovey. The people that work here are so friendly and kind. The food itself is awesome. Cooked really well, not under done or over done, and very fairly priced. Would definitely recommend.

As the owner of a near by local training school, I bring my students here for lunch. The food is always fantastic with a huge amount of choice and all very reasonably priced. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. I cannot fault this cafe at all. Thanks Perry and the team

New to the area and checked this place out with the family for a late morning breakfast. Food was fresh and well cooked and many options. The owner/manger was really engaging and made us feel very welcome.
